Indian Pakistan Choli Garment

Saturday, 19 September 2009

A blouse or sari is also called a 'choli' in Pakistan and India. This garment is a fitted raiment which is made to be worn under a sari.

Choli can come in a greatly diverse range of styles and these uniquely far eastern blouses are very popular across India and Pakistan as well as other neighbooring countries. Sewing patterns for these simple blouses are available, for those who wish to make their own.

The classical choli is short sleeved, and has a scooped neck and a naked midriff. Naturally this makes them real eye-catchers on Pakistani girls who have slim waists and nice figures.

In the heat of Southeast Asia, the summery design convienient for tropical weather.

The choli goes by several other names, aside from the “sari blouse.” In Pakistan, choli are called a lengha; in Telugu of India, it is ter,ed a ravika.

In parts of India and Pakistan where girls wear the scarf known as a dupatta the dupatta can be draped to allow for more coverage, enabling women to remove the dupatta to remain cool when they are at home or with friends.

Various sari draping strategies can also be used to reduce or maximize exposed body, dependent, of course, on the taste and cultural values of the Indian or Pakistani girl wearing the choli.
